Where do I start with this one? We have a 2 1/2 yr old & a 4 1/2 year old who love Madagascar, Jungle Book, and dozens of other animal films. This movie couldn't hold their attention...they left the room & my pay per view money was spent. This movie was straight out propaganda about why man is evil, has multiple gender-uncertain characters, promotes violence, racial stereotypes, foul language, a poorly developed plot, mediocre animation and simply falls short of anything worthy of time or money. I don't appreciate the attempt to try & brainwash my children. Icing on the cake for me was the lion who became vegetarian after he grew out of being "young & foolish" and the speech from turtles who explained how man has ruined the planet forever. Horrible all the way around.

In the comments I see great examples of people trying to defense their unhealthy behavior against a movie that goes behind the curtains of what is happening between humans and the rest of this planet. It is time the children (and especially the adults) get a look behind the curtain, and starts to equate themselves with this planet and the animals that we share the planet with - to accept that we in fact, ARE destroying this planet more than any other living being. And realize that without us on earth, the planet would benefit. That is why, we need to change. If compassion is not coming from the inside, then what is wrong with a movie showing you the meaning of it?

Despite trying with some cheap jokes, the overall tone of this movie is rather dark, but what really bothers me is the inconsistency of the story and the overabundance of factual errors and improbabilities, in this movie we have African buffaloes with fur, upper incisors and (in the German dub) a Spanish accent, saltwater fish in a large open-top tank in either Botswana, Namibia or Angola (evaporation apparently being a non-issue for these tanks), animals from all over the globe who arrive in these landlocked regions after leaving a bathtub they used to cross the oceans, a biplane with an ATGM launcher, etc.. The worst of all these factual errors, IMHO, are the vegetarian lion - the rest of the carnivorous protagonists don't seem to eat anything either - and the dam closing in all water (instead of letting through roughly the same amount as before since otherwise it would simply spill over), because these are obvious plot devices to indoctrinate children with the political messages of this movie (meat is bad, mankind is evil).

I am probably more eco friendly than many people, yet I found this movie offensive in so many ways. It is full of characters stolen from other places, plot lines from other places, and an unabashed hatred for humankind. Mostly it is an embarrassing attempt to indoctrinate the viewer that failed on multiple levels. I watched this movie on TV on a Saturday when there was virtually nothing else worth watching and I felt ripped off. Its too bad that Direct TV doesn't give refunds because I would certainly ask for my $4.95 back. If you see the listing for this movie do not bother to look further it is a waste of time and energy.

I don't often write movie reviews, but I just had to for this one... There isn't much good about this movie. The characters are cute, that's about it. The script is completely implausible -- a polar bear in the Savannah?!? A floating bathtub that appears out of nowhere... Granted, it's a cartoon, but still... The animation was horrible. The movement of the lips during dialogue wasn't in synch. with the actual dialogue. The worthwhile message of the movie gets lost in the mess of terrible animation & boring script. The highlight of the whole thing is the monologue of the 715 yr. old tortoise. But that's about it... Twenty seconds or so... In closing, don't waste your money on this one!

I can't believe the staff in Blockbuster let me rent out this piece of excrescence, usually they're pretty good about telling you what's good and what's not. My two children (aged 6 and 3) both look thoroughly bored, and I haven't seen a single smile from them or heard them laugh once, and that's unforgivable in a children's film. Don't even get me started on the preachy preachy environmentalist sub-plot. The plot is non-existent. The animation is poor in places, and the lip syncing is annoying. I understand that it was a German language production that has been overdubbed by an English cast, but this should be clearly marked on the DVD as it is with non-animated films. Frankly, 1 out of 10 is generous. This film is complete garbage, and I'm glad I'm only out the cost of a DVD rental rather than a family cinema ticket!

we, as a family, love this movie, its a shame how many losers bring down a great family movie, shame on you! how can you be as low as rating this a 4, or saying the worst movie ever? really? because my son, daughter and wife loved it. it tells a great story, there are great animations, great characters, and what the heck is wrong with it? in my opinion, this movie is the best movie ever, besides this movie! know why? because i played the voice of the male turtle and my wife was the female. thanks for the support. back to no water at all. please rate this a great flick so we can take this to nyc and make another movie for my young turtles. thanks and have a blessed day!
