A good film but rude, Salaam namaste is a very funny film and much better than The rising. Everyones acting was very good,And i most particularly liked Priety Zinta and Arshad Warsi.
The songs were nice, the acting was nice and so was the the movie. It probably would have been perfect if it was not rude. The best bit is when Priety Zinta is feeling sick and Saif Ali Khan is in the toilet. Saif Ali Khan's acting was good but Salman Khan should have done Saif Ali Khan'srole. Even though the film was rude it was good. The reason i gave the film 8 out of 10 is because it is quite rude, otherwise i would have given it 10 out of 10 if it was not rude.

This movie is disgusting, and yet, tries to be funny.
I hated the kissing scenes, and Preity Zinta use to be my favourite actress but not now, after watching this movie!! This movie had no story and failed to get my interest! Yash Raj films are going down. Bunty aur bubily was rubbish and so was Salaam namaste. Neal n nikki was just as bad!
The name of the films does not match the story VERY well. The music was quite goot. The music videos were sick. To me, this movie should be a flop! The worse movie i have ever seen! I wish i could give the movie NONE out of ten!

Well, comparing this movie with romantic comedy like Hum Tum or some other will not be justified This is a very different movie with a very bold story...may be Indian audience is not ready for this. This movie is made with extraordinary outfits which are really imaginary...characters are imaginary too i mean the whole movie was full of CRAP (said 50 times by Saif) ...cmmon Indian film makers...just because Hum Tum was a HIT does not mean you can make us fool.
Yes there were positives and Negatives in the movie as they are in all movies...but it went really boring at times...
could have been better

I thoroughly enjoyed Salaam Namaste, I have seen it many times, and each time, I love it even more.
Saif does a perfect job with his role, its flawless. He makes you laugh more than a few times, and he is brilliant. He is one of the few actors that have created a niche with the loverboy role, and can actually pull it off. Preity Zinta does also, an amazing job. She looks fresh, and has updated her sexy status. She still has the same charm she had back with earlier roles, which is fantastic, I love her acting too, its humorous, and great fun to watch.
Javed Jaffrey, Abhishek Bachchan, and Jugal Hansraj make up important, but short appearances. I liked the way Abhishek narrated the story, with each introduction of a new character, the story paused and showed their history. It was very clever.
Music is enjoyable - it has it all. A slow song, a fast song, a great title track, a cheesy song...
The end gets a bit dreary and tries hard to maintains the humour. There are times it works, and times when it doesn't. Easier to understand when you see it.
The director has done an excellent job, I must admit, Salaam Namaste is a great film, with few flaws. The script, music, directing, and acting are all fabulous. Siddharth Anand has proved himself in Indian Cinema, and has made a fantastic, very different film.
Worth every minute.

Though a well made movie...with well known & established actors (Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Arshad Warsi...etc)...good direction... The story of unmarried couples living together is unusual in Hindi cinema, but unfortunately nothing is original about it.
This is another Bollywood re-make of a Hollywood movie, and this time it is "Nine Months", a movie which was released (10) years ago in 1995 with Hugh Grant & Julianne Moore.
The million dollar question is: why is Bollywood still remaking Hollywood movies which were released over 10 years ago with big budgets, big star-cast...etc? There seems to be a shortfall of creativity amongst directors & story writer in Bollywood. The next question is: why do big stars accept such movies? is it money? easier roles (being copycats)? This is unforgivable I must say to take people for a ride.
A good advice for Bollywood's filmmakers...try something original at least.

Another film from the ever reliable Yash Raj camp, having earlier this year come out with the superb Bunty aur Babli which was met with lukewarm response from the masses due to its breaking the mould story line, Salaam Namaste tries to follow the same path but essentially is the age old story of two people who fall in love and the subsequent trials & tribulations of a relationship. We've seen this done to a plum in Chalte Chalte, DDLJ.
The film stars Saif & Preity Zinta if you already didn't know, but there is also a superb supporting cast namely in the great Arshad Warsi as the comedy relief, Saif's best mate, Ron. Saif plays a Chef, named Nick (Nikhil Arora really) and Preity is a local Radio DJ named Amber, they both have fled their homeland to settle down and live their lives independently of their families in Melbourne, Australia. This is one of my main gripes with the movie, as it tries so much to point out the positives of Australia and the multicultural aspect in infused with the desi populace highlighted throughout the city, but the beauty of Bollywood has always been that patriotic and proud notion of the actors being Indian and wearing their Indian hearts on their sleeves. Here the two main film leads seem to be running away from their heritage and this is made worse with the introduction of a overly stereotyped Indian who is trying to be an Indian crocodile dundee and states he "hates Indians".
But anyway you all didn't come to see Border, or LOC - Kargill, this isn't Indian Independence day or anything, but Kal Ho Na Ho managed to set an entire story outside of India (New York) yet still didn't slate the main leads Indian heritage.... So back to the story, both Nick & Amber over the time of the movie fall in love and decide to move in together rather then marry etc. They decide they'll take each day as it comes and just enjoy each other. This is the movies mains strengths it highlights the high's & low's of a relationship in an Indian context and covers topics usually to taboo in bollywood, such as sharing beds, contraceptives and abortions with a token hooker thrown in for the laughs !! The movie is a mixed comedy, serious drama and unlike Hum Tum steers more towards the seriousness of the couples problems, but like all true bollywood flicks, the ending will leave the audience satisfied and with a huge smile on their faces, I certainly did. Both actors do really well, Saif as usual playing the comedic role to a tee, and when called upon does the serious bit good too, I especially like his on screen friendship with Arshad Warsi great to watch. I never rated Preity Zinta as highly as the accolades she gets and again she hasn't done anything to prove me wrong, don't get me wrong, she plays her role well (young independent women) but again it could have been done better and she has a tendency to over-act especially in the emotional tear jerker scenes. Look out for a great Bollywood cameo at the end.
Overall like Hum Tum but with Zinta replacing the great Rani, and set in Australia, the trials and tribulations of a young couple who fall in love but find it hard to stay in love - worth a watch for sure

This is yet another pathetic movie by Preety Zinta. The subject matter remains the same as Kya Kehna. She gets pregnant before her marriage and then the drama of the re-acceptance by Saif Ali Khan (not even the actors changed). The difference is just that Saif is a bit lucky this time. A total waste of time and money, really. This is yet another pathetic movie by Preety Zinta. The subject matter remains the same as Kya Kehna. Javed Jaffry is great in this movie . A genuine classic comedy character up there with Sholay's Soorma Bhopali or Padosan's Masterji. Unfortunately , he can't live the movie enough to make me give it anything more than 1 point . For Javed's 15 minutes of screen-presence , I had to go thru' Preity Zinta's 2 hours.
How dumb can a Hindi movie be , when 3 people are sitting on a table and two are talking in Hindi , when the third one butts in and says 'English , Please' ?!! And why in the name of God , does this movie have to be based in Australia ? Is it to prove the Australia doesn't make good contraceptives ? ( By the way , the movie is about a contraceptive gone wrong ) The first half had some light watchable and listenable moments , but the second half was Ufff .... TOO MUCH SHREIKING for my pleasure . Abhishekh Bacchan enters supposed as a likable bumbling doctor. But he doesn't look like any doctor . He just looks like Abhishekh Bacchan with bad makeup and horrible overacting , possibly as a result of some contract gone wrong with the producer.
Overall , a bad movie . Worth watching on pirated DVD's just for Javed JAffry.

Okay guys don't go losing your minds because I just compared this cute piece of crap to one of the best Hollywood films of 2004! The only resemblance that Salaam Namaste shares with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is that it shows us a side of relationships that we don't usually see in films. And that's where the similarities end. That's the only way it gained 5 stars from me. I liked the way it addressed relationships especially in the 21st century. Somebody needs to send Preity Zinta a memo for her to stop accepting roles in which she portrays desperate women who have to con men to love them! I mean come on! A man doesn't need to have a degree in Neuro-surgery before he realises that he is in love, and Preity, pretty please, stop playing these tired stereotypes of women willing to try and give those men their love degrees! That said, Salaam Namaste is a good looking film about good looking people, living in a good looking country, have good looking jobs and good looking lives, until they meet and fall in love with each other. Then everything is not so good looking any more! Babes, why wasn't Salaam Namaste something original again? Sorry? Exaaaactly! :-D It was mediocre yaar! The out-takes were funnier and more entertaining than the movie!
